Composer Burton Mr. Goldstein is the recipient of the 2006 "Copland House-Borromeo String Quartet Award."
The Borromeo String Quartet Award was established in 2004 by the Aaron Copland House Foundation to provide important international performance opportunities for one exceptional composition for string quartet each year written by an Aaron Copland Award resident composer.

This Summer, the Borromeo Quartet will enjoy its 4th year as facult artists-in-residence of the Taos School. Also on the faculty are our colleagues BRENTANO STRING QUARTET, the SHANGHAI QUARTET, pianist ROBERT MCDONALD and THOMAS SAUER, and violist MICHAEL TREE.
Please join us on July 2, July 5, July 16 and July 19 for seminar and faculy concerts.
Performances are held at the Taos Community Auditorium in downtown Taos and seminars conducted by the faculty members are presented at the Hotel St. Bernard in Taos Ski Valley.
Performing experience for our students is of utmost importance. During the eight-week session each give four concerts as part of the school's Chamber Music Festival series held at the Taos Community Auditiorium in Taos and at the Hotel St. Bernard. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable audiences enhance the well attended student and faculty concerts.
Daniel Avshalomov, violist of the American String Quartet, says of Taos,
"For the audience, they have the sense of being admitted to a kind of intimacy, in that they not only hear music being made but they can experience the process that makes it."

Taos School of Music is dedicated to furthering the appreciation, understanding, and performance of chamber music by helping young string and piano students develop their musical awareness and comprehension, and in the process providing Taos audiences with the finest chamber music concerts possible. Location
The School is located at the French owned, family style Hotel St. Bernard in Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico. It is 19 miles north of Taos, high in the scenic Sangre de Cristo Mountains of northern New Mexico.
Participants
Participants are a select group of professionally oriented, advanced students of violin, viola, cello, and piano,18 to 29 years of age. The Taos School of Music has a non-discrimainatory admissions policy, admitting talented students of any race, color, national, or ethnic origin.
Facilities and Recreation
The Hotel St. Bernard, headquarters for the Taos School of Music, is famous for its continental charm, excellent accommodations, and superb cuisine.
The students have rooms in the hotel or adjoining chalets, eat together family style in the hotel dining room and have use of the hotel facilities including its hot tub. The hotel is situated at an altitude of 9,200 feet in the Village of Taos Ski Valley. The forests, streams, lakes and mountains of the surrounding Carson National Forest provide endless opportunities for hiking, climbing and fishing.
At the foot of the mountains lie the Taos Indian Pueblo (over 800 years old) and the town of Taos, with its three contrasting cultures (Indian, Spanish, and Anglo), which for over 90 years has been the home of many renowned artists and writers. Excursions are planned for area points of interest including an evening at the Santa Fe Opera.
